Public Safety Advisory enclosed the following sexual assault crime prevention tips in their email:
- Make sure you have consent. Consent is a clear and freely given yes, not the absence of a no.
- Don't feel obligated to do anything you don't want to do. "I don't want to" is always a good enough reason.
- Define your sexual limits and practice being assertive about your boundaries.

At this time, there is no ongoing investigation relating to the university-wide email sent Saturday reporting a sexual battery that occurred in an on-campus residence hall.
“There will not be any arrests," university spokesperson Kathy Wolf said. "The individual did not want to notify police for an investigation to take place. If she doesn't press charges, there won’t be an arrest.”
The Ball State Public Safety Advisory email, sent at 2:28 p.m., reported the incident occurred on the same day and the suspect involved was known by the victim.
The email did not disclose where the battery occurred.
Wolf said the public safety advisory was sent out as apart of the university's ongoing efforts to keep students safe.
“I just want to say on behalf of Ball State, safety of our students is our priority," she said. "This is why we put these things into place to protect students and make sure that the individuals that encounter such an incident are protected as well.”
The email encouraged students to speak up if they have been the victim of a sexual assault.
