The first thought that came to mind was acknowledging the fact that "Stranger Things" takes place in Indiana. Indiana doesn’t have much so it’s always an exciting thing to see it rise in a TV show or book, like John Green’s “The Fault in Our Stars.”

The other first thought was the time frame. I love the '80s, and throughout the show, the music helped bring the time frame to life.

When it comes to the pilot of TV shows, the first five minutes need to grasp the viewers' interest, and "Stranger Things" did just that. As typical as the opening scene was, the lighting and the music created a great deal of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Not seeing the monster in the beginning kept me wanting more simply because I needed to know what it was. Was it a monster? A mutation? An alien? It could have been anything which kept the suspense going.

The overall storyline was merely interesting at first, but I thoroughly enjoyed it by the time the first episode was done. The idea of having little kids as some of the main characters in more of a young adult TV show broke the norms and added such a great twist.

The only bad thing I have to comment about is Winona Ryder and her acting. I understand being hysterically upset that her young child is gone but her acting was a little much. I was talking to my dad about it, and his words are better than mine which were, “It is like it is her first time acting.” I could not have described it better myself.

With that being the only flaw that I noticed, the show is certainly a success and a fresh of breath air with it being so unique and truly suspenseful.

Continue to watch?: Yes, I would continue to watch the series, and I intend on watching the rest. It has caught my attention in all the right ways, and I love how different of a show it is compared to the rest of those shows I watch. I need to know what happens next and that is the key to success when it comes to the pilot of a new TV show.
