Ball State has named Megan Ciolli Bartlett as the new head coach of the softball program.

Bartlett has nine years of Division I coaching experience and was a two-time All-American player at Notre Dame. She was an assistant coach for Purdue last season.

"I'm honored, I truly am," Bartlett said. "Ball State softball is kind of a Midwest powerhouse. It's a winning culture, it's a championship program and I am excited at the opportunity to carry on with the tradition here."

She has also spent time as an assistant coach for DePaul and Northern Illinois. She began her coaching career as a graduate assistant for Loyola Chicago.

Bartlett excelled as a player at Notre Dame, where she helped lead the Irish to four Big East regular season titles. She is the school's career leader in hits and stolen bases, while also ranking in the top five in several other categories.

She played two seasons in the National Pro Fastpitch League for the Chicago Bandits.

"I think every person you work for you learn from," Bartlett said. "I have been extremely lucky as a young coach ... I'm ready to go. I'm really, truly so excited."
