GYMNASTICS: Allen finishes in 14th in NCAA Central Regional

Junior records high scores on the bars

For the second year in a row, junior Nicole Allen made an appearance in the NCAA Regional competition this past Saturday.

With a score of 38.875, Allen improved five spots from her appearance in 2011, finishing 14th.

Competing in the all-around competition, vault proved to be her top event. She scored 9.8 to finish 24th.

On the bars, Allen received a mark of 9.725, placing 34th.

She followed it by placing 24th on beam with a score of 9.7.

Her lowest score of the night came on floor with a score of 9.65, finishing 31st.

Allen was named to the All-Mid-American Conference second team with the end of the 2012 season. In 2011, Allen was named to the All-MAC first team.

At the MAC championships two weeks ago, Allen finished in a tie for fourth on vault and fifth on the floor. Her scores were 9.85 and 9.85, respectively.

Allen still has one year of eligibility left at Ball State.
