WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals go 1-5 during break

Ball State struggles on road, starts 0-2 in MAC

The holiday break was anything but relaxing for the Ball State women's basketball team.

Ball State struggled through the tough portion of the schedule during break, going 1-5 while playing four road games, including a pair of games in Mexico.

The Cardinals made a trip to Cancun, Mexico, for the Caribbean Classic and played Alabama-Birmingham and Nevada, losing the games by a combined nine points.

In the final game of 2010,  Ball State returned home to face St. Louis. With a combined 40 turnovers between the teams, the Cardinals managed to get a 78-59 win against the Billikens.

Three days later, the Cardinals wrapped up a two-game homestand and nonconference play with an 86-51 loss to Duquesne.

Ball State began its Mid-American Conference play with a 63-46 loss at Toledo, who ended Ball State's season in 2010.

The final game over break was another road loss at Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

Senior forward Emily Maggert led the Cardinals in scoring every game over break except against Eastern Michigan. Freshman forward Katie Murphy led the team with 17 points in the loss.

The Cardinals are currently 5-10 (0-2 in MAC) with five of their next seven games at Worthen Arena.
