A snow-covered start to the day it was! Although the snow has moved out of the Muncie area, the cold temperatures have not. Our average high for this time of year is right around 40 degrees; however, our highs for the next couple of days are going to be well under that. The next chance for snow will come heading into next week on Sunday where accumulations are expected to be between 1 and 3 inches. Temperatures will dip down into the mid teens next week with wind chills expected to plunge the feels like temperatures well down into the negative values. What a pleasant Friday afternoon it is! The temperature for today has already matched the record high temperature set back in 1971 of 72 degrees. We are expecting to exceed that record temperature by about one or two degrees. The warmth is not going to stick around as a cold front is expected to pass through our region tonight and into tomorrow as our high temperatures for the next two days are not expected to exceed 42 degrees. Low temperatures are also expected to drop into the 20s and 30s, so make sure to send out your kids to the bus stop with a jacket. It's another beautiful day in Delaware County as we expect to climb to a high of 82 degrees today which is close to the record high of 84 set back in 1982. Hurricane Matthew is the big national focus as it continues to make a northwest path up the east coast. So far, the main threat has been rain and hurricane force winds. Matthew will continue to track up towards South Carolina before heading back out into the Atlantic Ocean. Closer to home, Muncie can expect the chance for a few pop up showers later this evening, but then major clearing as the rest of the weekend and the start of the next work week looks sunny. Temperatures will remain in the 70s for the majority of the week, but lows will begin to drop down into the 40s and 50s, so light jackets for the morning may be needed. It's the second day of Fall, but it sure does not feel like it out there with temperatures skyrocketing into the upper 80s. Today's high is expected to reach 88 degrees, which is close to the record high temperature of 90 degrees set back in 1970. Our first chance for some rain and thunderstorms will come Monday for the start of the work week. Temperatures will begin to fall as well as an upper level trough will move eastward bringing our area more cooler and drier temperatures. Highs for next week are not looking to exceed the mid-70s. Fall-like weather is coming!

Recent clear weather will give way to a chance for showers late Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning. Showers are expected to clear out by Friday night, but return for the early overnight hours of Saturday. These showers are forecast to stick around for most of the day Saturday, which will likely affect the home Ball State football game.
