Sophomore outside hitter Patrick Rogers was pivotal in Ball State’s winning effort over Lindenwood in a marathon five-set thriller on February 10. He logged a season-best 20 kills and 11 digs in the triumph over the Lions, which marked the third double-double of his debut campaign in Muncie.

The Saturday night matchup between Ball State and Lindenwood pitted two of the nation’s top offensive forces against one another. Leading into the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) match, the Lions and Cardinals respectively ranked first and second nationally in kills per set, as they both entered the contest averaging about 13 terminations per frame.

Cardinals head coach Donan Cruz was also previously undefeated against McKendree in his two seasons at the helm, but the unblemished record under his tenure came to an end Friday.

On just the second day of 2024, Ball State men’s volleyball welcomed fans to Worthen Arena for its first match of the young campaign. The season-opening matchup marked the earliest kickoff of a Cardinals volleyball season in the rally-scoring era in 2001.
