The Mid-Eastern Conference Championship for Indiana high school football was created in 2018 after Monroe Central, Shenandoah, Eastern Hancock and Wes-Del, the only four teams in the Conference with football teams, unified to form a football conference.
After the first quarter of Friday night’s game between the Blackford Bruins (3-4) and Mississinewa Indians (4-4), it looked like both sides would be in for a shootout, showing off their running games early.

Cardinal fans in attendance at the Muncie YMCA were not disappointed with Ball State’s (8-2, 0-0 MAC) efforts against Murray State (8-5, 0-0 Ohio Valley) Saturday. After losing the doubles point to the Racers, the Cardinals were in a tight battle all the way up to the final match, before ultimately taking the 4-3 win.
Friday’s outcome between Ball States Women’s Tennis (7-2, 0-0 MAC) and Northern Kentucky (3-3, 0-0 Horizon) was never in doubt, as the Cardinals were able to take the doubles point and ride to the tune of a 6-1 win over the Norse.
In her seven years as head coach of Ball State’s gymnastics team, Joanna Saleem had never beaten Eastern Michigan. After Sunday's meet, Saleem and her Cardinals swept the season series between the two.
Sophomore forward Thelma Dis Agustsdottir had two points in the game against Miami (Ohio) just over a year ago. One year later, Agustsdottir went 8-for-12 from the field, including making seven of her last eight shots, to lead Ball State with 19 points, her second-highest season total.
Ball State’s Women’s Tennis couldn’t quite get things going Saturday afternoon, as Louisville ran away with a 5-2 win in the second-ever meeting between the two Cardinal squads. Three of the four singles points went to Louisville in straight sets.
