One of my life’s greatest regrets is not being made aware of Weyes Blood earlier in my life. Natalie Laura Mering, known as a member of her band’s collective name Weyes Blood, is one of today’s most gifted singer songwriters.
Episode 12 of The Legend of Vox Machina creates doubt in the idea of the climactic ending. After a glorious encounter with the hottest couple devoted to evil gods, Vox Machina looks forward to well-deserved rest and relaxation. If only the edgy friends didn’t have to be so dramatic.
Episode 11 of The Legend of Vox Machina features the climactic battle between Vox Machina and the evil, yet hot, Briarwoods. The party has to come together and help Percival De Rolo defeat his childhood demons. All while trying to free Vax'ildan and Cassandra from Sylas’ beguiling influence.
Episode 10 of The Legend of Vox Machina starts to pull the rug-of-climax out from our band of misfit heroes. The episode delivers classic Vox Machina character moments alongside the best dramatic scenes the season has delivered so far.
Denzel Rae Don Curry, known on stage as Zeltron or Denzel Curry, is a curious character in the realm of music, constantly feeling fresh and underground while being a seasoned veteran in the hip hop genre. Despite giving the opening verse on the revered 2016 XXL Freshmen Freestyle, he has both experienced and expressed a sense of unappreciation alongside fellow 2016 freshmen names like 21 Savage and Lil Uzi Vert.
My descent into the Warhammer fandom began only a couple years ago. Hearing my older brothers talk about Space marines, Primarchs, and someone named the Emperor of Mankind slowly piqued my interest over the years. The banter and the references all culminate into a fateful decision of me pressing play on a seemingly harmless lore video on YouTube. That small moment was the beginning of the end. The only thing I could see before me was a gleeful obsession.
Episode 9 deals with a climactic battle and a heartfelt loss. Percy is thrown into the chaos of Delilah Briarwood’s plans, having to run and hide or shape up and lead. All while Vox Machina misses having their dearest healer by their side.
Episode 8 features our heroes taking on Professor Anders, one of Whitestone’s most nefarious creatures in their mission to free Cassandra de Rolo. While battling him and his silver tongue, Pike pushes herself to the limits of her strength to say sorry to the goddess she fears she’s lost.
Episode 6 follows the grim return of Percival De Rolo and Vox Machina to Whitestone, Percy’s childhood home. The dark welcome is met with old friends and a rebel leader in need of a prison break, allowing Vox Machina to do what they do best: wreak havoc.
Episode 7 takes a break from the trauma of Percy de Rolo and gives a nice, long, scandalous look at our favorite gnome of depravity, Scanlan Shorthalt. This serves as a much-needed levity during a wave of grim backstory and deepening character relations.
Episode 5 of The Legend of Vox Machina dives into the dark past of Percival de Rolo and the uncertain future of Pike as the party takes on the dark and dangerous Briarwoods of Whitestone. Backstories and character motivations are revealed to everyone, including the viewers, as though we are all huddled around, listening intently.
Episode 4 shows the aftermath of Vox Machina’s dramatic meeting with the Briarwoods. From festering old wounds to the birth of new ones, Vox Machina shows that demons of all types tend to find them regardless of house arrest.
Episode 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina takes the lead given by the previous episodes and further dives into the world of Tal’Dorei. This episode, featuring new settings, deeper character lore, and a new villain, follow episodes 1 and 2 in quick stride.
From celebrating 1,000 subscribers on Twitch, to breaking Kickstarter records, it has been a long and shockingly popular road for Critical Role. Although I cannot claim to be an original fan, and I only started binging Critical Role’s campaign a little over two years ago, I have become a big supporter of Matt Mercer and his nerdy, voice actor friends sitting around playing Dungeons and Dragons (They play Dungeons and Dragons!). I also was unfortunately late to witness them turn what was supposed to be an animated special into an $11.3 million Kickstarter fund that landed them a series on Amazon Prime. However, seeing The Legend of Vox Machina feels like a well-deserved critical success.
