On Saturday afternoon, the 2024 Delaware County Softball Tournament semi-finals and championship game were set. In the semi-finals, the Yorktown Tigers (11-2) defeated the Delta Eagles (3-12) 9-0 to advance to the championship game.

Wednesday evening the Yorktown Tigers (9-7) took the field against the Shelbyville Golden Bears (8-7) in a Hoosier Heritage Conference (HCC) clash. The green and white fell in the first matchup of the two-game season series between these two squads on Tuesday 1-4.

The Wes-Del Warriors (7-4) were set to square off with MEC (Mid-Eastern Conference) opponent, the Wapahani Raiders (4-7) on Wednesday evening. Both teams have had up-and-down seasons thus far, and each headed into the game looking for stability as the season's halfway point has arrived. At the end of the night, it was Wes-Del taking the victory 7-4.

Monday evening, Muncie Central (0-7) was on the road to battle Delaware County rival Delta (7-5). The Bearcats are still in search of their first victory of the year, nearing the midway point of the season. The Eagles were amidst a losing streak of their own after starting the season 6-1, the blue and gold dropped their last four contests heading into the clash.

Coming into Ball State softball’s final home series of the 2024 season, the Cardinals aimed to gain some ground on Akron who sat at the No. 6 spot in the Mid-American Conference. With the red and black at No. 7 in the conference, this was an important weekend.

Wednesday evening, the Cowan Blackhawks (3-4) traveled to Wes-Del (3-3) in a battle of Delaware County foes. After opening the season 3-0, Wes-Del has since dropped its previous two games and was looking to get back in the win column against a county rival.

On Saturday afternoon, the Wapahani Raiders squared off against the Brownstown Central Braves in the Class 2A State Finals. Both teams were in search of their first state title in program history, but it would be the Braves taking home the hardware with a 55-36 victory over Wapahani.

NEW CASTLE, IN - On Tuesday evening, Delta (18-6) faced off against Frankton (15-8) at the New Castle Fieldhouse in the quarterfinals of the IHSAA boys basketball state tournament. After a postseason run to semi-state last season, the Eagles hope to carry that experience and ride it to another deep run this year. In the end, Delta began their quest to another deep run by downing Frankton 46-25 to advance.

On Friday evening, Delta (16-6) was set to square off against Oak Hill (12-9) in the regular season finale on the Eagles senior night. Delta cruised in an emotional game to take the victory over the Golden Eagles 49-22.

On Tuesday evening, the Yorktown Tigers (11-8) took the court against the Muncie Central Bearcats (7-13). The series between these two storied programs of Delaware County has been dominated by the purple and white with the Bearcats winning 15 of the last 18 meetings dating back to the 2004-05 season. However, Yorktown would put that trend at a halt as the Tigers took the 43-30 win.
