Ball State's (8-1, 0-0 MAC) play shifted in between matches during its first day of the Cy-Hawk Series Tournament. After suffering their first loss of the season against Iowa State (5-1, 0-0 BIG 12), the Cardinals secured a victory against Iowa (0-6, 0-0 BIG TEN) Friday evening.
Ball State Women’s Volleyball (5-0, 0-0 MAC) extended its undefeated streak Friday evening against Wright State (2-2, 0-0 Horizion). The Cardinals defeated the Raiders in four sets, by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 26-24 and 25-20, respectively.
“She did not play like a freshman, she played like an experienced, veteran player,” Ball State head coach Kelli Miller Phillips said.
Saturday night marked the end of an era for Ball State Men’s Volleyball. Ending a 31-year career, Joel Walton spent his final few hours as head coach of the Cardinals.

Growing up in Hamilton, Indiana, Cait Snyder had aspirations of playing volleyball in college. The only problem was Hamilton was not the ideal place for student-athletes to get noticed — her hometown high school had a student body of just 140, and the girls’ volleyball team went 9-21 the season before she would have arrived.

Fewer than two weeks ago, Ball State (8-4, 5-3 MIVA) fell to Ohio State (5-7, 4-4 MIVA) in a five-set match that ended the Cardinals' seven-match win streak and started what would become a three-match loss streak.
