In the final home match of the season, Ball State women’s tennis captured its second Mid-American Conference victory over Northern Illinois, 6-1. After an 0-4 start to conference play, the Cardinals swept the weekend to give improve to 2-4, giving them a shot when it comes to making the MAC Tournament at season’s end.

Ball State women’s tennis defeated Western Michigan Friday by a score of 4-3. The tightly contested match came down to the wire, where junior Isabelle Dohanics came out on top to secure Ball State's first Mid-American Conference victory on the season.

Ball State men’s tennis (12-8) has played 18 matches this season, and only two have been outside. That was not the case at this time a season ago. Junior Nemanja Guzina said he remembers being outside on Easter last year.

Despite a victory earlier this weekend for Ball State women’s tennis, the Cardinals were unable to make it two-for two as they fell Sunday to the Toledo Rockets, 5-2. The tone was set early for the match, with Toledo capturing the early advantage in a hard-fought doubles point that was at the expense of junior Audrey Berger and sophomore Rebecca Herrington, 7-5. Despite the dropping a close game, coach Max Norris didn’t feel that any negative feelings carried over to the rest of the day.

No miracle. No major upset. Ball State men’s tennis (12-8, 2-3 MAC) traveled to Kalamazoo, Michigan, and couldn’t upset the Mid-American Conference preseason favorite Western Michigan Broncos. The Cardinals lost the match, 0-7. Head coach Bill Richards said the Cardinals played okay.

Ball State women’s tennis managed to get back into the win column, taking down the Northern Iowa Panthers, 7-0, at home. One of the common things this season for the Cardinals has been doing well in doubles play, and coach Max Norris saw them carry over that play into singles today.

Ball State women's tennis (7-7, 0-2 MAC) closed out its weekend of Mid-American Conference play with another loss. The team lost a close match to Bowling Green (10-5, 2-0 MAC) Sunday afternoon, 4-3.
Although starting off MAC play 0-2 is not ideal with losses to Miami and Bowling Green, head coach Max Norris saw improvement in his team in the matches over the weekend, specifically in doubles play.
