Big plays highlight Ball State football 2016 Spring Game

Ball State football’s annual Spring Game had eight touchdowns and no score on a cloudless afternoon in Scheumann Stadium. The 0-0 finish was the result of contest between the offensive and defensive units.

Community college football transfer looks to compete for role on defensive line

When the Ball State football team went into the locker room after practice, junior transfer defensive lineman John Swisher stayed outside, practicing on the tackling dummy. Swisher and sophomore Kevin Thurmon, two of the nine defensive linemen on the roster, were getting extra reps. “There’s a lot of good defensive tackles here. ... I’m just trying to get my stride in the spring,” Swisher said.

Indianapolis Colts release Jonathan Newsome

While there has not been an official announcement made by the Indianapolis Colts, it appears Jonathan Newsome has been dropped from the team's roster via Newsome's Twitter account. Last week he was arrested on a marijuana possession charge last week. Newsome, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, thanked the Colts organization via Twitter for the opportunity. The former Cardinal linebacker also thanked Colts fans via Twitter as well. Signed in 2014, Newsome received a $178,108 signing bonus to go along with his four-year, nearly $2.4 million contract. Newsome spent two seasons with the Colts.

Former Ball State football player and current Indianapolis Colts linebacker Jonathan Newsome was arrested on possession of marijuana charges. According to fox59.com, police arrived at Newsome's apartment around 2 a.m.

Wenning, Snead return to Ball State for workout

Keith Wenning and Willie Snead made history together playing in a Ball State uniform. Together, the duo racked up the completions, yards and touchdowns, becoming one of the most prolific quarterback-receiver combos in the nation. Now they're both playing in the NFL, Wenning with the Cincinnati Bengals and Snead with the New Orleans Saints.
