Two years ago, Muncie Community Schools was on the brink of financial collapse. In 2018, Muncie Community Schools received a D grade from the Indiana Department of Education. and was placed under an emergency order from the state when Ball State University and a handful of legislators crafted a controversial plan to step in, setting the stage for a new kind of public school system.

Ball State Men’s Basketball (17-13, 10-7 MAC) hosted Central Michigan (13-17, 6-11 MAC) in its final home game of the regular season on Tuesday. With emotions running high as the Ball State honored its seniors, the Cardinals held a Chippewas team, that was averaging nearly 80 points per game, to less than 70 points in an 85-68 win.

Ball State Women’s Swimming and Diving (5-6, 1-3 MAC) descended on Buffalo, New York, for the Mid-American Conference Championships Wednesday. The MAC has been a tough trip for the Cardinals in recent years. Last season, Ball State only scored points in eight events. This year, the Cardinals struggled, placing eighth out of eight teams. However, the team showed improvements over last year’s effort.

The Ball State swimming and diving teams returned from their midseason break to their biggest test to date: the 26th annual Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio. The teams set many personal bests, as both men and women finished in third place.

It was a tale of two halves for Ball State Men’s Basketball (4-3, 0-0 MAC). The Cardinals set a school record for 3-pointers made against Howard Saturday with 21. Tuesday, Ball State managed to make only 21 shots in total in a 69-62 loss to Western Illinois (2-4, 0-0 Summit).

Ball State’s swimming and diving teams took to the pool Saturday in a co-ed meet against Grand Valley State. The women were victorious, 197-103, and the men fell to the Lakers, 187.5-112.5.
