Activision announced today that they have acquired developer King Digital for $5.9 billion dollars. King Digital is best known for their multitude of mobile games that were mostly popularized back in 2012, such as Candy Crush Saga and Bubble Witch Saga.“Mobile gaming is the largest and fastest-growing opportunity for interactive entertainment, and we will have one of the world's most successful mobile game companies and its talented teams providing great content to new customers in new geographies throughout the world,” stated Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick in a statement on the recent acquisition. “King has a truly fantastic management team and over 1,600 incredibly talented employees, and we are excited to welcome them into the Activision Blizzard family.”Activision has also elaborated on this new relationship with King Digital, stating that King will continue to operate independently. King’s current CEO, Riccardo Zacconi, will continue to lead the current management of the company. It is being speculated that Activision plans on using King as a means to break out into the mobile gaming market, an area Activision has yet to fully embrace, unlike other gaming companies such as Electronic Arts. Activision is expected to elaborate on the nearly 6 billion-dollar purchase to investors tomorrow in a conference call, which will be in conjunction with their quarterly earnings report.-----Sources: Fortune, Game InformerImage: El Financiero
@DaltynMartyn Ever since 343 Industries took over the Halo franchise back in 2009, fans have been reasonably skeptical on whether or not the beloved franchise was placed in the right hands. The lackluster story and multiplayer saw the community of Halo 4 diminish within months of release, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection was simply an unplayable mess at launch. It is easy to see why a few hardcore Halo fans felt alienated by the new developers. Luckily for both 343 and fans alike, Halo 5 is a step in the right direction.

With the second Street Fighter V Beta officially underway for PC and PlayStation 4, NeoGAF hasn't wasted anytime data mining the game in search for content that has yet to be officially announced. Series veteran Dhalsim and two unnamed new characters were uncovered in the code, which all but confirms their appearance on the final roster due to the fact that these characters have story illustration introductions already coded into the main game. These introductions also match up with characters that have already been previously announced, like Rashid and Zangief. Guile, Ibuki and Juri are also mentioned in the code, but they seem to only appear as background assets. As of now, Capcom has yet to confirm any of the findings of the data mine. ----- Source: NeoGAF Image: All Games Beta, NeoGAF
