Dreary start to the week today, with rain for most of the day today. a couple of those rain showers could have some freezing or sleet mixed in, but since the ground is still pretty warm don't expect to see much if any accumulation. Do keep an eye out for a slick spot here or there on the roads and or side walks. The best chance for the mixed precip is late morning into the earlier afternoon hours. Transition into all rain by sunset with spotty showers through the evening and into the overnight hours.

The battle between winter and spring has offically begun! Warmer temperatures are looking more promising while the chance for another snowstorm is dwindling. Yesterday we got our first taste of spring seeing temperatures get up to 44 degrees, after seeing temperatures at sunrise were sitting below 20 degrees. Over the next month, this is a pattern we are going to start to become more fimiluar with.

We are currently in the stage of winter that most of us typically are not huge fans of. We love to see the snow fall and fresh snow on the ground , but generally don't really like the colder temperatures. This time of year in late winter, it is pretty common to see multiple shots of artic air from a polar vortex that dips down into lower 48 states. We saw temperatures here in Muncie dip down to 1 degree right around sunrise yesterday and temperatures dip down below 0 around the area. Not quite as cold today getting up to 25 but that is the warmest its going to be all week. On and off snow showers are also likely throughout the week bringing the possibility for multiple rounds of accumulating snow

A pretty nice past few days not only for the Muncie area but the US as a whole. Not much going on other than some showers along the southeast coast as well as the northeast coast. The main weather story has been Eta, which is the Atlantics 28th named storm this Hurricane season which tied the record set back in 2005. There is still some time left in the year for named storm 29 to church up and give the record to 2020.

Tonight: Pretty similar evening tonight as like it was today. Not as cold as last night but still pretty chilly. Getting down to 9 degrees tonight, watch out for the pick up of winds. As they will pick up to 10-20mph by tomorrow morning. This will lead to colder windchills, so make sure if you are heading out the door tonight or tomorrow morning that you are wearing a coat, hats, and gloves, because it will be chilly. Any long period of exposer can lead to hypothermia or even frost bite, so make sure you stay layered.
