MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) - Severe thunderstorms moved through East Central Indiana on Easter Sunday bringing periods of heavy rain, gusty winds and even some small hail. Once those strong storms moved through the area, a cold front brought much cooler temperatures to the area. Roughly 10 to 15 degrees colder than 9 p.m. Sunday. Despite the cooler temperatures, expect to see sunny skies return back to the forecast tomorrow. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 50s with winds out of the NE at 10 to 15 mph. Wednesday will also be another nice day with sunny skies, however, breezy conditions are expected. Highs on Wednesday will reach the upper 60s and possibly the lower 70s. Thursday will be our next big chance for rain and thunderstorms to return back to the area. Some of the thunderstorms could be strong at times, make sure to always keep an eye to the sky. NewsLink Indiana Weather will continue to provides updates on this system as it moves closer to Indiana.
MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- Strong thunderstorms moved throughout throughout last evening. Lightning reports were frequent and hail was reported throughout east central Indiana. Unfortunately though, behind those thunderstorms was colder hair, so high temperatures are going to be about 20 degrees cooler than they were on Sunday. Tuesday and Wednesday we are going to see quite a bit of sunshine, especially on Tuesday. On Wednesday skies will grow cloudier throughout the day as the next low pressure system begins to approach our area. Our next rain chance is going to occur on Thursday, with the best rain chance occurring before noon. There is the possibility of a thunderstorm on Thursday as well, but as of right now we do not expect it to be severe. Temperatures will once again drop on Friday, and a lesser rain chance will stick around during the day before clearing out for the weekend. MUNCIE, IN (WCRD Weather) -- One of the most important parts of severe weather week is learning how to respond to severe weather. There are many steps you as an individual can take, including enacting your family disaster plan and keeping a record of your families medical needs, just to name a few. However, there are many other agencies across the state that take action to respond to severe weather. These included the National Weather Service (NWS), Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS), the Red Cross, local emergency services, and the media. All of these organizations have an important role to play in responding to severe weather. For more information about the steps each of these groups takes during severe weather check out the following report filed by WCRD Forecasters Molly Coates, Ethan Rosuck, and Caleb Saylor.
MUNCIE, IN (WCRD Weather) -- Indiana Severe Weather Preparedness Week continued on Tuesday with a statewide test tornado warning and drill. These drills took place at 10:15 in the morning and 7:35 in the evening. The purpose of these drills was to allow families, businesses, and schools to practice their severe weather action plans. Part of that action plan is knowing the difference between a watch and a warning, and what to do in the event a watch or warning is issued. The key word to a severe weather warning is action. When a warning is issued you need to take action, severe weather is occurring. For more information about severe weather warnings, check out Adam and I's report below.
