Valparaiso (1-3-2, 0-0-0 MVC) took a trip to Muncie in an attempt to avenge a loss from the 2021 season. A loss for the Beacons Sept. 4 meant Ball State (1-3-2, 0-0-0 MAC) earned its first victory of the 2022 season.

Ball State Soccer finished the Spring Cup finals with a 2-0 loss to Kentucky April 9. Head coach Josh Rife said the Cardinals produced opportunities offensively but failed to match the Wildcats' competitiveness after falling behind 1-0.

For more than two decades, soccer at Ball State was limited to men only. From 1961-82, men competed on the field, and every passionate female soccer player watched from the sideline. It wasn’t until 1999 that Ball State added women’s soccer as an intercollegiate sport.
