Sept. 1, Ball State Daily News Sports Editor Daniel Kehn, News Editor Kyle Smedley, Visual and Photo Editor Amber Pietz and Associate Photo Editor Jacy Bradley traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee to cover Ball State Football's contest against the University of Tennessee, in which the Cardinals fell 59-10. During the trip, the group was able to not only work at a professional level for student media, but further realized their passions in the process.

Each season, at least one of Ball State Football’s first games of the year is against a “Power-Five Conference” (Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, PAC-12 and ACC) program. To kick off the 2022 season, the Cardinals and the University of Tennessee Volunteers will square off at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee Sept. 1 in each program’s first game of the season.
August 19, four Delaware County High School varsity football programs opened up their regular season. Muncie Central High School and Delta High School clashed in a contest that came down to the final minute, Yorktown High School picked up their first win of the season and Wes-Del was defeated in their home opener.

As a part of Kia of Muncie and Toyota of Muncie's Tent Sale, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan signed autographs from 2-4 p.m. July 22, 2022. A food truck, local radio station 104.1WLBC and more were present during said autograph signing that saw fans stretch from nearly one end of the Scheumann Stadium parking lot to the other.

The 2021-22 College Football season comes to a close Jan. 10, and for the first time since the College Football Playoff started in 2014, the championship game is in Indianapolis, Ind. Alabama (13-1) will take the field against Georgia (13-1) in a rematch of the 2018 College Football National Championship, where the Crimson Tide defeated the Bulldogs 26-23 in overtime.
