OXFORD, Ohio– After a 21-point loss, one could have expected a fired up Michael Lewis when he sat down in a conference room deep in the annals of Millet Hall. Ball State men’s basketball’s head coach certainly wasn’t happy after a 80-59 defeat at the hands of Miami (OH), but he never raised his voice when recalling the 40 minutes that just passed.

On Tuesday evening, the Yorktown Tigers (11-8) took the court against the Muncie Central Bearcats (7-13). The series between these two storied programs of Delaware County has been dominated by the purple and white with the Bearcats winning 15 of the last 18 meetings dating back to the 2004-05 season. However, Yorktown would put that trend at a halt as the Tigers took the 43-30 win.

On Tuesday evening, Ball State looked for a win in Worthen Arena before the red and white embarked on their three-game road trip. However, the Cardinals welcomed Ohio to Muncie and after a matchup that required extra time, the Bobcats took the 84-79 victory.

If Ball State men’s basketball’s loss to Ohio (13-10, 7-4 MAC) had to be summed up in one sequence, it came with about eight minutes left in the 2nd half. Although there were still eight lead changes left before the Bobcats emerged victorious in overtime, a series of events between Jalin Anderson and Michael Lewis defined the contest.
