With the days getting colder and the unexpected weather we get in the Midwest, it can be hard to walk to and from places, and if you drive, the bad weather conditions can be tricky.

Luckily, Muncie offers reliable public transportation for its residents. The MITS bus can take you around 14 routes that include important landmarks around Muncie, including Ball State University, Ball Memorial Hospital, Walmart and downtown Muncie. And, Ball State students ride for free when a valid school identification card is shown.

MITS makes the process as smooth as possible for you. The first step is to plan ahead, figure out where you are, the destination, and time. You can then input all of this information on the Plan Your Trip section. Here, MITS will automatically give you step by step instructions on the bus number and how long the trip will take, which stop to go to and walking directions to the stop.

However, if you need more information or clarification, head over to the Routes and Schedules page which gives you an in-depth look on times and bus stops. For ease of access, download the MITSBus App, which gives you location information and provides more accurate ETA for every bust stop and route.

Another service offered by MITS is MITSPlus, which provides door-to-door service for people with disabilities. You simply reserve a ride, and a MITSPlus van will take you to your destination. To take part of this program, you just have to submit a two-part application.

If more clarification is needed, call 765-289-MITS (289-6487) to speak to an operator about the bus stop, how to get there and anything else you need to know.

Getting around Muncie to get groceries, go to a doctor’s appointment, or grab food at a restaurant shouldn’t be hard, and MITS doesn’t make it hard. Start riding and saving money today!
