Harvest Fest returns to Muncie

The annual fest returns this November.

MUNCIE, Ind.--- Alpha Mu Gamma hosted the Harvest Fest on Thursday at the Community of Hope Church in Muncie from 5:30-8 p.m.

The annual celebration focuses on spreading cultural awareness through its free food and performances.

“We have a bunch of different foods from a bunch of different cultures,” said Katie Kois, Alpha Mu Gamma President. “For example, I’m Greek, so I brought some Greek food today.”

The songs, skits and dances performed at the Harvest Fest are put on by Ball State’s language clubs.

“They [language clubs] are all doing performances that represent the cultures that correspond with their languages,” Kois said.

Alpha Mu Gamma is the National Foreign Language Society at Ball State University and recognizes achievement in world language studies. The organization hosts cultural events throughout the academic year and offers free tutoring in language courses.

“Our goal is to not merely just make our modern languages be recognized throughout the Muncie community, but also to celebrate their traditions and ritual aspects of how they became about a culture, and what is their history,” said Desmond Alston, Alpha Mu Gamma Vice President.
