Brown headed to Stetson

MUNCIE, Ind. (NewsLink)- A Bruins senior has turned the tide for team.

The Bruins went from losing 61 games in the three seasons prior to Luke Brown's arrival to winning almost every game. The team’s success has impacted the community.

Former coach at Blackford High School and Bruins fan of over 50 years, Russ Sutton, is one of many who has been impacted.

"It just means a lot to me...I had a stroke three years ago, and I really look forward to coming out here and coming to watch the games," said Sutton.

"It really has flown by, but it's been a blessing," said senior Blackford guard and Stetson University commit Brown.

Brown is the fifth-leading scorer in state history. The Brown family has also been impacted by the team’s success.

"The happiness on people's faces, that they're enjoying this...that means the most to me...and I have lifelong friends here now. There's places that I've lived for 15-16 years that I don't have as many friends as I do here," said Luke's father, Ted Brown.

Brown’s next chapter in his basketball career will be at Stetson University. After graduation, he will make the trip to Central Florida to play his next four years of basketball.

"I had a lot of offers and interest from bigger schools that were starting to come in, and I didn't wanna miss out on the chance. I just felt like I could be myself there and play my game how I wanna play," Brown said.
