Indiana to begin stage 5 of 'back on track' COVID-19 reopening plan

In a virtual press conference Wednesday, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb announced the state would begin stage 5, the final stage in the "Back on Track Indiana" reopening plan, on Sept. 26.

In the state's intial reopening plan responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, Holcomb planned for Indiana to enter stage 5 on July 4, but extended stage 4.5 to July 4 to Sept. 25.

Under stage 5, restaurants, bars, night clubs and gyms can operate at full capacity, but social distancing guidelines should continue to be observed. There will be no size limitations on gatherings in stage 5, including for amusement parks and entertainment venues.

Holcomb also said in the press conference the Indiana mask mandate will remain in effect at least until mid-October. Face masks are recommended in all indoor spaces and required for state employees.
