Splitting it's MAC matchups last weekend, Ball State Women’s Volleyball (11-5, 2-1 MAC) swept Eastern Michigan (10-7, 2-1 MAC), 3-0, Friday in its first of two conference matchups this weekend.

In the first game, the Cardinals were able to carve out a 25-23 victory. Building off their momentum, the Cardinals earned a 25-21 win in the second game and although the third game saw some notable plays from the Eagles, the Cardinals would earn the eventual 25-20 win to sweep the Eagles.

The Cardinals were led throughout the match by senior outside hitter Ellie Dunn, earning 13 kills throughout all three games. Dunn, who has been a driving force for the Cardinals all season long with 234 points on the season, is excited to take on a larger role and hopes to see her and her teammates grow throughout the rest of the season

“We’ve definitely seen the spots that we need to improve on which is good,” Dunn said. “I think seeing where we’re lacking right now is really important for us.”

Head coach Kelli Miller was pleased with the victory and continues to be impressed by Dunn’s constant leadership and attitude towards the game.

“[Ellie] always wants to get that kill for us,” Miller said. “It means so much to have that trust in a player and to have that type of competitor on your team and she’s just going to continue to get better. Our team’s going to continue to raise its level because of leadership”.

Heading into tomorrow’s match against Central Michigan, the Cardinals are hoping to build off of tonight’s success and improve in all aspects of the overall game, regardless of team and individual performance.

“Every day is a new day, so we just want to keep moving” junior setter Amber Seaman said. “We want to keep working on the things we did well tonight and bring them against Central tomorrow.”

The Cardinals will face off against the Chippewas Saturday 7 p.m. at Worthen Arena.
