Thunderstorms returns; cooler temperature to follow

Tonight:

Expect clear skies in the early hours of the evening, but will give way to incoming cloud cover. As the warm front approaches the area this evening into the morning hours, the chance for a few isolated rain showers is possible during the morning commute. Temperatures tonight, however, will be cool near the lower 40's for much of Central Indiana.

Tomorrow:

Make sure to pack the umbrella or the rain coat tomorrow before heading out for the day. Thunderstorms and rain showers will be possible throughout the day. Accompanying them will be overcast conditions but much warmer conditions. Temperatures will soar into the mid-60's for much of Indiana.

Alongside the warmer temperatures will be the chance for some of the thunderstorms to be severe. Indiana remains under a slight risk for severe weather tomorrow. The primary threats will be damming winds and small hail. Anytime severe weather is a possibility we cannot rule our the chance for an isolated tornado.

Damaging winds will not be the only factor into tomorrow's forecast, expect winds gusts in excess of 20 miles per hour at times. The strongest winds will occur just ahead of the cold front approaching the area late Tuesday evening into the early morning hours on Wednesday.

The timing of the thunderstorms and rain showers that could be severe will primarily be in the evening hours into the early morning hours on Wednesday. The daytime hours on Tuesday would be an excellent time to check you batteries in your emergency weather radio to ensure you receive weather alerts. Be sure to stay posted to NewsLink Indiana for updates throughout the evening if severe weather impacts East Central Indiana.

7-Day Forecast

Once the cold front moves through East Central Indiana on Wednesday, conditions will cool down before warming back up again. As we head into the month of March, temperature will be at or slightly above average. Sunshine returns for the daytime on Thursday. We cannot rule out the chance to see a few snow flurries in the early morning hours on Thursday. As Ball State University gears up for spring break, sunny skies and highs in the lower 60's will return.
