University seeks student input for master plan

The Daily News

Ball State students received an email Wednesday asking, “What if you could change one thing about Ball State?” A new Master Plan is in the works for Ball State after a little more than 25 years.

Gregory Graham, Ball State’s director of facilities planning, said the university’s goal “is to give Ball State the information to allow us to make educated decisions regarding future planning of the campus.”

Open houses, online collaboration and a series of focus groups are among the available opportunities for students, staff and residents of Muncie to respond.

Responses have already begun to appear on the masterplan.bsu.edu website. Among some of the questions available for response are “What is your vision for Ball State University in the next 20 years?” and “How can we create a more connected university and community?”

“Our students use Muncie facilities, our staff live in the community and people in the community participate in events on campus," Graham said. "Being a good neighbor helps in both directions.”

Though some submissions may be subject to change, short-term, long-term and midterm goals are expected.

These goals are used as a reflection of Ball State and Muncie’s community which can help in constructing a more effective and positive master plan for the next 20 to 25 years, Graham said.
