The Royal Fashion Show was filled with excitement as students cheered on the couples strutting their stuff down the runway.
The audience was filled with laughter as contestants got creative with their costumes, which ranged from a couple flashing bling dressed as a pregnant Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z to a couple painted in blue dressed as Papa Smurf and Smurfette.
At the event the audience was full of energy and ready to enjoy the show.
"I thought that we had a really great turnout this year," Jenny Pyle, Homecoming's Air Jam chairwoman, said. "Everyone was really excited and it's really nice to see all of the different organizations supporting their candidates."
Another popular couple dressed up as Will Smith and Carlton from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," and walked down the runway doing different dance moves.
Costumes were decorated with vibrant colors such as neon green and hot pink wigs. There were angel wings and a couple dressed in boxes as Facebook and Twitter to reflect how social media is growing.
"I really enjoyed how dorky some of the guys looked and how uncomfortable some of them looked on stage, it really made me laugh," Ball State student Rachael Woodcox said. "Katy Perry and Russel Brand were my favorite."
Throughout the night, students sat in groups to support the king or queen candidates for their respective student organizations. Students yelled and cheered in anticipation as the top 10 king and queen candidates were announced.
After candidates showed off their costumes, the time came for Homecoming's top 10 candidates to be announced.
One top 10 candidate, Fred Taylor, said the nomination brought added pressure.
"I was in it last year, and I made top 10 [king candidates]," the senior, who represents Alpha Kapp Psi, said. "I was kind of stressed this year — like everyone expected me to make top 10. "I'm really happy for the results.
