Indiana University hits record system enrollment

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University said a record number of students have started classes at its eight campuses around the state.

School officials said that 108,041 students enrolled for the first day of fall semester classes. They expect that number to grow slightly before final enrollment figures are tabulated and should top last year's system record of 109,445.

Officials said enrollment at the main campus in Bloomington is up 0.7 percent to 42,081 students, while IUPUI is down 0.2 percent to 30,300 students.

Enrollment at the regional campuses is largely steady, although IU East in Richmond grew up 13.5 percent to nearly 3,500 students. IU Southeast in New Albany is up 3.4 percent to about 7,200 students.
