Flooded roads caused traffic tie-ups and delayed schools after nearly two inches of rain triggered flash floods in the Muncie area early this morning.

Ball State students were forced to take shelter overnight after tornado sirens blared around 2:30 a.m.

Daily News reporter Devan Filchak told Twitter followers she was among those who found shelter in LaFollette.

"I woke up to the tornado siren and tried to go back to sleep. Now I am in the LaF basement and it is so loud," she wrote.

Elsewhere, local media reported numerous problems because of high water. The Star Press listed more than three dozen streets heavily flooded.

Muncie and much of the state remained under a flood warning today. On the other hand, there's no more rain in the forecast, and spring break should begin Friday with highs expected in the low 50s.
