Marketing students help Terre Haute nonprofits

TERRE HAUTE — A group of students from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College is using its social media skills to raise the profiles of Terre Haute nonprofit organizations.

A $15,000 grant from Ball Brothers Foundation Venture and the Lilly Endowment is funding a program in which students have designed social marketing strategies for Catholic Charities and the Terre Haute Children's Museum.

The effort has resulted in a new Facebook page for Catholic Charities and a recruiting video that's posted on the museum's Facebook page.

Museum executive director Lynn Hughes told the Tribune-Star she thinks the video will help attract volunteers.

The project will continue next semester. Nonprofit groups interested in applying should do so by Saturday at smwc.edu/gointerns.
