Daily News recognized by several institutions

The Ball State Daily News won 90 Gold Circle Awards for News from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association on Friday. These included top awards for Page 1 design, news and feature packages and overall newspaper design.

The international association, based at Columbia University, judged entries produced between mid-June 2009 to the same period in 2010.

Earlier this year, bsudailynews.com won 15 Gold Circle Awards for Online Media, including all six places in the interactive graphics category.

Former graphics editor Stephanie Cope, now on the staff of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, won six first-place awards, including top honors for Page 1 design and news-page design.

Last month the Daily News was named a finalist for five national awards by American Collegiate Press including the Pacemaker for general excellence, the group's highest honor. Winners in that contest will be announced Oct. 30 at the National College Media Convention in Louisville, Ky.
