Firefighters have left the streets and parking lots surrounding Teachers College after about a half hour.
Captian Mark Adams of the Muncie Fire Department said a malfunctioning light ballast set off the alarms. A light ballast regulates voltage in fluorescent lights.
Firefighters let a Ball State University electrician repair the malfunction before leaving the scene.
