About 150 students attended Pruis Hall's Night of Comedy on Tuesday for a night of stand-up comedy and a student directed comedic short film.
Eight comedians took the stage, lampooning every subject from Facebook to drugs to struggles with the opposite sex.
"You know what I like about Facebook?" Comedian Jake Lynch said to the audience, "It's the one place where I can poke pretty girls and not have to pay $100 an hour."
The program was presented by Ball State University sketch comedy group Something Else.
The comedians were the best of the regular performers who showcased their skills at comedy shows at MoTini's and the Bird in the Village, Ryan Ehresman, a performer and organizer of the event said.
"We wanted to continue to show that comedy is still alive at Ball State," Ehresman said. "We also wanted to give students a break from the hardest week of their entire lives."
Although members of the crowd left during the beginning of his performance, comedian Paul Kijak said he thought the event was a success.
"It went really well," Kijak said, "The crowd was smaller than last time, but they were really into it."
The last comedian to perform was Brent Smalley who described himself as "John Mayer if John Mayer did meth."
After an hour and a half of stand-up comedy, Something Else presented a short film entitled "Grape Nuts."
Members of Something Else directed, wrote, produced and starred in the film. It was about several winery owners competing in a wine festival who went to ludicrous lengths in order to win the coveted winery of the year award.
Freshman journalism major Rebekah Wagner sat in the front row during the entire show and said the highlight of the night was the last comedian, Brent Smalley.
"I thought it was pretty good," Wagner said. "I felt that this was one of the better comedy shows I've seen at Pruis Hall."
