Hoke to present "Top Ten" on Monday's episode of Letterman

Preparing to play in a nationally televised conference championship game tonight, coach Brady Hoke knows he will also face another national audience Monday night.

Hoke will appear on Monday's episode of the "Late Show with David Letterman" to present the "Top Ten," according to a CBS Entertainment statement released Thursday.

Hoke was named the Mid-American Conference Coach of Year on Wednesday after the No. 12 Ball State University football team finished the regular season undefeated. The Cardinals (12-0, 8-0 MAC) advanced to their first MAC Championship Game and will play the University at Buffalo at 8 p.m. in Detroit, which will be televised on ESPN2.

The late night talk show host David Letterman, who graduated from Ball State in 1970, has advocated for the Cardinals to play in a BCS bowl game.

After Ball State defeated Western Michigan University on Nov. 25 to clinch the MAC West Division title, Letterman said on his show the next day that the Cardinals should play the No. 1 University of Alabama in the National Championship Game. He also said in the segment that he would be willing to pay bowl officials to make the matchup possible.

For Ball State to receive an automatic berth into a BCS bowl it must be ranked at least No. 12 and the highest ranked non-BCS conference team. In this week's BCS standings, three non-BCS conference teams were ranked ahead of the Cardinals -- the No. 6 University of Utah, No. 9 Boise State University and No. 11 Texas Christian University.

The "Late Show with David Letterman" airs at 11:35 p.m. Monday through Friday.
