Students who want to learn more about the nation's financial situation can ask a panel of experts at Financial Crisis: Real or Imagined? at 7 p.m. tonight in room 175 in the Art and Journalism Building.
Ray Montagno, associate dean of the Miller College of Business and organizer of the panel, said it was important for people to become educated on the issue.
He said five faculty members will discuss the political, economic and financial aspects of the situation. It will also address various viewpoints and potential outcomes, he said.
Montagno came up with the idea when he realized that the faculty members he spoke to disagreed on how to handle the situation, he said. Since Ball State University had experts on the issues, they should be made available to the public, he said.
Montagno said he hoped to attract at least 150 people from Ball State and the Muncie community to create an interactive forum. Because it was on a Thursday night and on short notice, Montagno said he wasn't sure it would happen.
It's an important issue that affects everyone, he said.
"It has implications for not just housing," he said, "but student loans and credit. This affects a lot of people in a lot of different areas."
