The No. 8 Ball State University men's volleyball team defeated No. 15 Lewis 30-24, 30-23, 27-30, 30-23 on Saturday in Romeoville, Ill.
With this win Ball State (19-9, 10-2 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) concludes the regular season with its highest conference winning percentage since 2002.
Outside attacker Patrick Durbin had a match-high 19 kills, and outside attacker Todd Chamberlain had 15 kills. Also, the Cardinals out-blocked the Flyers 17 to 7.5.
Saturday was the first match this season outside attacker Marcus Imwalle and setter Ethan Pheister did not play.
Imwalle is second on the team averaging 3.04 kills per game. Pheister started 25 matches and is second in the MIVA with a 12.17 assists per game average.
Ball Sate enters the MIVA Tournament as the No. 2 seed and will play its quarterfinal match against Quincy University on Saturday in Worthen Arena.
If Ball State and Lewis, the No. 3 seed, win their first-round matches, the two teams will play each other in the conference semi-finals April 24.
