After picking up their first Olympic luge medals last year, by getting the silver and bronze medal doubles luge, the Americans went for a repeat, taking the sliver and bronze medals in the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
LUGE FAST FACTS - The entire sled cannot weigh more than 50 pounds for singles and 59 pounds for doubles. - At the start of all luge runs each sled is weighed and the steels' temperature is compared to an official control steel. - The current speed record for men's luge is 87 mph and was set at this year's Olympics by Markus Prock. He also received a Bronze medal. - Last year the United States won its first medals in luge in the doubles competition. The United States came away with silver and bronze medals. - After the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, France the International Luge Federation changed the luge doubles competition from men's to mixed-gender competition.
