Roller begins BSU career

-áTonight, the women's basketball team takes its first step towards what they hope to be another record-breaking season.-á The Lady Cardinals will entertain the Basketball Travelers tonight in their first pre-season game.-á

The team, which returns eleven letter winners form last year's team, was picked to finish second in the MAC behind Toledo.-á "Our program has come a long way in the last two year, but we haven't proven anything yet," first year head coach Tracy Roller said.-á

The Lady Cardinals finished with a 19-9 record last season, and look to improve on that behind junior Tamara Bowie.-á Bowie, who hails from Lansing, Michigan, was chosen for the pre-season All MAC team.

"Tamara has had two great seasons for us, and now she's got some expectations on her," Roller said, "but I know she can live up to them."

Another strength for this year's team is their depth.-á The Lady Cardinals expect to go eight to ten deep in their roster.-á According to Roller, the number of competitive players on the roster makes them better.-á

"We have a lot of young players competing for positions, and that makes us so much better," said Roller.

Right now the team just wants to put on a good show, and get the word out.

Roller added, "We just want to see if what is there in practices is as good as I think it is.-á We'll be fun to watch this season."
