Starbucks: Chocolate edition

  • Chocolate Caramel Chai

For chai-aholics, here is a way to change up this go-to beverage while still keeping that traditional spiced-up flavor. The added syrups make the drink sweeter, with several layers of flavors making up the final concoction.

Recipe: Start with a chai latte, then add chocolate and caramel syrups: tall, one half pump; grande, one pump; or venti, one and a half pumps. Top it off with whipped cream and either chocolate or caramel drizzle—or both.

  • Chocolate Turtle Anything

Here’s a great way to change up the usual chocolate charger. Whether one likes it hot or cold, with or without espresso, this recipe adds a sweet and nutty taste to any mocha, hot chocolate or frappuccino.

Recipe: Add equal parts toffee nut and caramel syrups to your chocolate beverage.

Bonus Recipe: To make any non-chocolate drink a turtle, add chocolate or mocha flavoring in addition to the toffee nut and the caramel.

  • Chocolate Dalmatian

Fan of white hot chocolate? If so, this is the recipe for you. This recipe still tastes similar to the original white hot chocolate, with the added texture and flavor of the chips. It also resembles its namesake because of its white-with-black-polka-dots appearance. However, stirring them into the drink while it’s still hot can cause them to melt and add more flavor than texture after a customer is finished admiring the barista’s handiwork.

Recipe: Order a white hot chocolate and ask the barista to add java chips and chocolate chips on top of whipped cream.

  • Chocolate Macchiato

Although a macchiato is normally made with either caramel or hazelnut flavoring, any customer can feel free to make a custom-designed drink with other flavors like chocolate. This recipe includes both mocha and white mocha syrups, but it can be altered to just include one of the two, or an entirely different flavor of syrup entirely.

Recipe: Order a caramel macchiato but ask the barista to substitute half mocha and half white mocha syrups for the normal caramel syrup. Add a criss-cross of chocolate and white chocolate syrup to complete the look.

  • Swirl Pow Hot Chocolate

For the Starbucks lover who’s not all about that caffeinated life, here is a variation on their signature hot chocolate. This drink has a hint of that coffee flavor with the mocha syrup but doesn’t have the espresso that a normal mocha would have.

Recipe: Start with a hot chocolate, and then add mocha and vanilla syrups: tall, one half pump; grande, one pump; or venti, one and a half pumps. Top with whipped cream and mocha syrup.

Bonus Recipe: Add another dimension to this swirled flavor experience by substituting the mocha topping syrup with caramel.
