In a crucial conference match up against the top team in the Mid-American Conference, Ball State fell to Buffalo 2-1 in overtime.
The Cardinals kept the Bulls out of the net late into the second half and were leading 1-0 ever since a first half penalty kick by Orla Travers-Gillespie.
It looked as if Ball State would hand Buffalo its first MAC loss of the season, but the Bulls scored late, tying the match with a goal from Katie Roberts.
The match went into overtime, where Roberts scored again, this time off a penalty kick to keep its undefeated MAC record intact.
With the loss, Ball State has its three game shutout winning streak snapped and falls to 9-5-2 overall and 5-4 in conference.
Ball State’s next challenge takes them to Akron, Ohio on Oct. 26, for the last away game of the regular season.
