Ball State track and field will be one of more than 40 colleges and universities travelling to Ohio State April 22-23 for the Jesse Owens Track & Field Classic.
Senior thrower Marie Lumpkin holds Ball State's indoor weight throw record, but it wasn't until her last month at Union High School in Losantville when she realized she would in compete in collegiate track and field.
With winds between 30 to 40 mph and snowfall, Ball State track and field was still able to reach six top-five finishes and two career-best performances at the Miami Duals in Oxford, Ohio.

The Ball State track and field team traveled to its first outdoor meet of the season this past Saturday to the Butler Bulldog Opener hosted in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Ball State track and field will head to Akron, Ohio, Feb. 26 and 27 for the Mid-American Conference indoors championships.
Ball State track and field finished 11th in the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships this past weekend in Akron, Ohio, with a total score of 14 points.
The Cardinals will be sending 13 athletes to this season’s championship.
Some students say they feel unsafe walking around campus after dark because of the lack of lighting on the sidewalks.
