Daily News wins awards in multiple categories at 2018 ICPA-HSPA Contest

The Daily News staff was awarded four awards at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association-Hoosier State Press Association College Division Contest Sept. 15. Lisa Renze-Rhodes, Photo Provided 

The Daily News staff received four awards, including two first-place awards, at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association-Hoosier State Press Association College Division Contest.

Each university in Indiana had the opportunity to submit one entry to each of the five categories — news, features, editorial/opinion, photo and sports — and the best student media works were chosen from the submissions. 

1st-place winners: 

News — “Faculty with felonies: where’s the line?” by Brynn Mechem and Max Lewis.

Editorial — "OUR VIEW: Indiana lawmakers are failing student journalists" by the 2017-18 Daily News editorial board.  

2nd-place winners: 

Features — "Living Form: The man behind the masks" by Brooke Kemp. 

Sports — "Amateur Muncie boxer uses rough childhood as motivation in ring” by Elizabeth Wyman.
