Freshman outside attacker Ryan Dorgan had quite the weekend for No. 12 Ball State men's volleyball.

The Spencerport, New York, native had a match-saving kill and sparked a comeback against Lindenwood, and he followed up that performance by registering a career-high nine kills, seven digs and two service aces in his first career start against Quincy, leading the team in all of those categories.

“I’ve been an energy guy my entire career,” Dorgan said after the win against Lindenwood. “I’ve always loved to get on the court and play. It’s so much fun bringing that energy for me and just seeing the other guys get amped up like that is an incredible feeling. I love it.”

Prior to his weekend heroics, Dorgan had seen action in just six matches and totaled six kills. He eclipsed that mark in just three sets in his first start at the collegiate level.

No. 12 Ball State will continue its battle for postseason positioning in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association with a home match against McKendree. The opening serve is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
