A lack of fire hydrants caused some issues for the Muncie Fire Department as they battled a structure fire on the city’s northeast side Monday morning.

MFD was dispatched around 10:50 a.m. for a structure fire in the Muncie Mobile Home Community on East Ashwood Drive.

Battalion Chief Mark Adams said when MFD arrived, the structure was “fully engulfed.”

Adams said no one was home at the time and no injuries were reported in the fire. The gas line to the structure was turned off.

Due to a lack of hydrants in the area, Adams said the fire department had issues getting water to the scene. Water had to be loaded into the trucks and then transported to the scene.

Only the original structure was damaged in the fire.
