After four seasons with the Cardinals, field hockey head coach Christy Longacre was hired as Georgetown's head coach on Tuesday.

The Hoyas held a similar conference record to the Cardinals this season going 1-6 in the Big East Conference as the Cardinals posted a 1-5 record in the MAC.

In 2016, Longacre took over the head coaching position to lead the Cardinals to their first birth in the MAC tournament since 2011. In Longacre’s two seasons as head coach she has held a collective record of 13-23, including a 3-2 win over Michigan State in October 2016.

Longacre has some familiarity in the Big East as she spent her college career at Old Dominion.

According to Ball State Athletics, the search for a new coach will being immediately.
