Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Muncie police were dispatched to the 1000 block of W. McGalliard Road on reports of a shooting.
When police arrived at the Cash Stop, they found 84-year-old Benkateswara-Roa Karlapudi. Coroner Scott Hahn told NewsLink Indiana Karlapudi died from a gun shot wound to the chest.
Police said Karlapudi was visiting his son who works at the Cash Stop when he was shot.
Investigator Joe Todd says that it's still early in the investigation, but the shooting appears to be accidental or self-inflicted.
A body was removed from the scene by Delaware County EMS.
