This weekend, Ball State University Police officers investigated several reported thefts from vehicles parked off campus – none of the reports were on campus.

In a campus-wide public safety advisory email sent out on Monday morning, UPD said they, "investigated several reported thefts from vehicles and attempted thefts from vehicles in the neighborhoods near campus."

The advisory also included the following tips from UPD in order to help prevent thefts from vehicles:

  • Make sure to lock all doors and close all windows
  • Use an alarm system if you have one
  • Do not leave valuables inside your vehicle
  • Try to park your vehicle in a well lit area
  • Report suspicious activity to the police
  • If you see something, say something
