Community organization to host adult prom fundraiser

For some, prom is something that they wish didn’t have to stop after their senior year in high school. For others, it is something that they never had the opportunity to experience.

Enough is Enough, a community organization that wants to stop the violence in Muncie, is holding an adult prom this Saturday.

The fundraiser, which is open to the public who are 21 and over, will be taking place Saturday at Knights of Columbus from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“[Adult prom is] something people can have because they may have never been to,” said Marwin Strong, founder of Enough is Enough.

Strong said some people couldn’t come to prom because they were pregnant in high school and this will give them an opportunity.

The money raised at the fundraiser will support projects to put signs and billboards around the community, letting people know about Enough is Enough.

Signs placed in the community will have information for people to contact their hotline, connecting them to resources they might need.

Strong said some community leaders, including members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s office, will be in attendance.

Strong said the fundraiser will have 80’s and 90’s music and be full of “fun and excitement.”

“I think it is so beautiful that people are excited about coming,” Strong said.

Pre-sale tickets are $15 and tables are available for $200. They can be purchased by calling 765-283-7663. Tickets will be sold the day of the event at the door for $20.
