Ball State men's golf is back on the road at the Mason Rudolph Invitational in Franklin, Tennessee, this weekend.

The Cardinals will play on the South Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club this week, where they finished in a tie for seventh place last year. Junior Johnny Watts led the team last year shooting an eight-over par 221 over three rounds.

Including host No. 3 Vanderbilt, the 14-team Mason Rudolph Invitational features six top-50 teams — No. 6 Florida, No. 21 Duke, No 26 Missouri, No. 43 Liberty and No. 49 Middle Tennessee State.

"This is one of the most competitive fields we'll see all year, and plus we're down here without Keegan McKinney this week," head coach Mike Fleck said.

The Cardinals are coming off a first-place finish at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate two weeks ago, where three members of the team had top-10 finishes including sophomore Timothy Wiseman's second-place finish, the best of his collegiate career..

Wiseman led the Cardinals at Pinehurst with a total of 217 (75, 71, 71) over the course of the 54-hole tournament and has two rounds in the 60s, two top-10 finishes, and another top-20 finish this season.

"Timothy's more experienced now that he's a sophomore," Fleck said. "He's hitting the ball a lot farther than he did last year. Hopefully these guys can build on that momentum from Pinehurst and play good, solid team golf."

Ball State tees off at 8:45 a.m. today. The 54-hole tournament concludes on Sunday.
